Summer Camp 7 July (Day 12)

Summer Camp 2020
Day 12

Sports

Today was another wet day so instead, we went inside to have fun. We continued to develop our hand-eye coordination while using the scoop and ball. We particularly improved our throwing abilities with the use of a scoop, some of us were able to catch the ball frequently when it was returned by our partners.

We aimed at some pins standing tall and we were able to knock them to the ground.

We played a game of 'Battle pins'.

We did some Spiderman'and Starwars yoga.

We finished the day with thrills and spills on wheels.

Quest
Today the students started off with the Stroop Test to improve their focus and determination.
They did it several times until they finally got the colours correctly.

After that, they did  the 'Hidden Picture' and 'Spot the Difference' activities. These promote attention to details and and help their observation skills. It was challenging for them but they tried their best to do it!

They finished up creating their own puzzles.

Mad Scientists
The Mad Scientists had a paper clip challenge wherein they tried to float paper clips on water. From this fun activity they learned about surface tension.

Another awesome experiment was Rain in a Cloud. The children used shaving cream and food coloring to simulate clouds and rain. Because of this the Mad Scientists had a deeper understanding of how clouds produce rain.

Digital Masterpieces
Today in Digital Masterpieces we learned about Jackson Pollock's ACTION art. We created our own action art with paint.

We also built a simple robot with a vibration motor and watched our robots draw line art.

Pre-Kindergarten

We started the day singing songs during our Morning Circle - Summer Song, Do the Monkey Song, BINGO.  Sunflowers are in full bloom at this time of the year. We looked at real sunflowers and used them as our model in painting. Aside from that, we also painted a paper plate using colours of our choices. We played "Stop Dance" for a while as the weather has not been cooperative for us to do outside play. For reading, we read a book, The Very Cranky Bear  by Nick Bland and made our character stick puppets.

Kindergarten
Kindergarten learnt how to use pipe cleaners to make people, balloons, rabbits and tyrannosaurus rex!
We also had time to paint our sunflowers, just a shame it's a rainy day.
