Summer Camp 2 July (Day 9)

Summer Camp 2020
Week 9

This week the Early Years students will also get an opportunity to have Sports activities as part of our DSKI Summer Camp Program. The other 4 classes in PYP were divided between Mad Scientists and Digital Masterpieces.

Sports (Early Years)

Today students completed a simple 'stepping stones' and 'hilltops course'. While the course was simple, we made some changes to make it more challenging. This helped us develop our proprioception, the understanding of our body, and how it moves in space.

We did this by carrying a ball while completing the circuit. That was too easy so we then carried two balls. This was too easy for everyone so we used a scoop to help us balance the ball while stepping. That was still too easy for most students and so we had to use two scoops, one in each hand with each scoop carrying a ball.

At the end of the lesson, we all enjoyed riding on the wheels. Students discovered there were various ways to move on the scooter boards.

Mad Scientists

The Mad Scientists had a Nature Walk and with their collected leaf samples. Then, they made an artwork that showed views of nature. In the experiment, Pencils through a Plastic bag, the students observed the special elastic properties of polymer plastics.

A bag filled with water and poked with pencils did not leak!

Digital Masterpieces

Today in Digital Masterpieces we had two activities on the go! (Thanks to our wonderful Summer Camp teachers for their support in facilitating this)

Group A1 used wax paper to create their own creatures. Then they decorated and colored them and brought them INSIDE a photograph of the DSKI school.

Group D1 worked to create Stop Motion videos of clay creatures.
Now that they have CloudStopMotion accounts, they can continue creating videos whenever they wish - try using lego or action figures at home.

Pre Kindergarten

We played various instruments this morning!
We did an "ice and rice experiment" too. They touched colorful ice cubes and observed how rice changed colors. Everyone wanted to eat the rice, but unfortunately it was not for eating! :)
After running around at PE lessons, Ms. Elena read a book "Mouse Mess" and they enjoyed making their own mouse mess on the plate!

Kindergarten

Kindergarten made some messy mouse masks then went on a messy mouse hunt! Can you see the mouse in hiding? We used the binoculars they made earlier in the week.

Children also used their water guns to make water paints. Nice collage came out from that activity.
