Summer Camp 6 July (Day 11)

DSKI Summer Camp 2020
Week 3 (Day 11)

Sports

Today students enjoyed learning how to control balls with a scoop. They did this by completing a simple obstacle course while maintaining correct positioning and balance with their wrists and scoop. Slowly,  more challenging activities were tried such as 2,3,4 balls in one scoop and then two scoops with multiple balls. Students also experienced catching balls with their scoops as well as controlling the ball when throwing the ball out of the scoop.

After the scoop and ball activities, we then did some fun yoga. we completed some difficult movements while listening to a beautiful story about a young lioness called 'Lulu' who had difficulty learning how to roar.

After performing our yoga session, we finished the day slip and sliding on wheels.

Quest

Today, the students worked on different observation skills. They solved challenges such as: Spot the Difference and Hidden objects.

They were also given a choice to make a jigsaw puzzle or a sliding puzzle.

Mad Scientists

We had an awesome experiment today, how different drinks affect our teeth! Since egg shells and tooth enamel have similar compositions, the Mad Scientists submerged eggs in different drinks like coffee and soda. We will find out if our hypotheses were correct in a few days!

Digital Masterpieces
Today in Digital Masterpieces we learned about Jackson Pollock's ACTION art. We created our own action art with paint.

- by Jun Young

We also built a simple robot with a vibration motor and watched our robots draw line art.

Pre-Kindergarten

We started the day singing songs during our Morning Circle - Monkey Song, One potato from Simple Learning. We had a short Musical Chair game. Sunflowers are in full bloom at this time of the year. We looked at real sunflowers and used them as our model in painting. Aside from that, we also painted a paper plate using colours of our choices. For reading, we read a book, The Very Cranky Bear  by Nick Bland. It is a rainy Monday but that didn't stop us from having fun!

Kindergarten

Kindergarten had a look at some sunflowers, how they were painted by famous artists and came up with their own interpretation.
And also had time to make some playdough animals!

Today children observed the sunflower and looked on famous painting of Vincent van Gogh. They draw their own sunflower which each of them looked very different and unique.
